How do they handle? How's the power?

Hard to judge handling when they're in the shop for $2000 of parts for the suspension, or something for the AWD system, or... anything else, really. I love them, but I could never recommend one to someone.

Did they really have to festoon this one?

I'm with leadfoot on this one. I love these oldish R bricks.

Agree! these things are wonderful in every way that some one who really enjoys this sort of technical. that being said they are a a labor and sacrifice of love as they age. new they were great but as they age they are moving into that group where they belong to the enthusiast. Some one willing to take a hit on losing value and increasing maintenance cost. The rest will fade away as people buy them cheaper and cheaper and run them deeper and deeper to the ground as they let things so a little longer than they should. Simple because cost is prohibitive. As well as frequently close to over all value of the car it's self. which leads to extra wear on the over all condition of the car on it's slow walk to the salvage yard.

Turning circle is similar to a cruise ship, suspension is nice (adjustable 4C) with 3 different settings. That same suspension though is expensive to replace, awd collar is likely to strip.
They need care and attention like any european performance model

i looked into getting one, its the maintenance repair bills that will get you. I think they have somewhere around 300 hp which is pretty sweet.

Even stock they are very quick. The 4c suspension, even on "Comfort" is very stiff and feels like you're bottoming out on every crack in the road. This became problematic for me driving around NYC roads in all weather with low profile tires. Rims and tires blowouts we're more common that I would have liked. Someone else mentioned the turning radius....I think a cruise ship actually turns a bit tighter in harbor. You just back into every parking spot.
If you get on the V70R forums, you will freak yourself out and run for the hills. Angle gear this, turbo that. They can be a surly bunch as well.
Don't get me wrong, I search v70R on craigslist once or twice a month on. It's kind of like looking at your ex's pics on Facebook....you're glad she's gone, but damn she looks good.

I love them, and I can picture myself owning one, but everyone says they're shitty :(

Very cool car that I was considering myself... but there are so many maintenance issues. If you want a fast turbo wagon, I would recommend a Subaru legacy gt wagon! I picked up my sedan 6 months ago and it has been a blast!
